That's a great concert and very nice to combine the Zelenka setting with the equally brilliant ones by Schütz and Rutter. They just missed an opportunity to make it a "four mags from four centuries" concert by including one of those cheesily rousing settings in english from the Victorian era e.g. by Stanford or Brewer.

too bad it is the wrong side of Germany for me....

More western Germany concerts! As RNKT noticed elsewhere, ZWV 108 is getting good coverage. Multiple dates, mostly in towns in the west, but one will be in Reidstatel, near Nuremberg, on the 3rd of December:

This programme combines Zelenka's Mag with JS. Bach's Christmas oratorio parts I-III, quite a nice idea.

That's not far from me in the town of Neumarkt. Reitstadel is the name of the venue - it means (roughly) "horse-riders barn". So, another in the growing line of Zelenka concerts to take place in a barn. What would he have made of all this?!

Unfortunately I am already fully-booked on 3rd December, otherwise I would have gone :(

I did have you in mind when I posted this (didn't realise that it was the name of the venue, haha), but that is sad that you can't make it! :(

On other news however, there is this grand Collegium 1704 ZWV21 + Heinichen & Bach concert happening in May 2016 (http://www.berliner-philharmoniker.de/konzerte/kalender/details/22424/) at the Berliner-Philharmoniker (!).
*definitely* in eastern Germany this time, the capital must be relatively accessible?
This might tempt me to go on a little Zelenka pilgrimage next year...

Judging by the state of the 'seating chart' when you look at booking tickets, this looks like it will go sold out! It's only November!

I hate to sound negative, but don't get too worked up about the Philharmonie until you have the tickets in your hand, so to speak. My own experience of their online ticket system is that it's a disaster! So buy early (months ahead if they have released the tickets) and be prepared for eventual e-mail correspondence with them if something doesn't work. Another complication is that they sometimes release the tickets late and then the whole system gets jammed -- from the number of people trying to buy them at once. :D

Cheers for the heads up Alistair. I probably won't be able to make such a trip this year. Besides, I might as well save up and plan for 2017 Zelenka Festival Praha instead!

A few things:

Bachtrack review (https://bachtrack.com/kritik-weihnachtsoratorium-balthasar-neumann-chor-ensemble-hengelbrock-kovacs-pieper-potter-lichdi-immler-dahlmann-dortmund-dezember-2015) (in German) for the Hengelbrock / Balthasar Neumann Ensemble concert with ZWV 108.

Also, a new concert for 27th Dec has been posted, also in Southern Germany (!), this time with Litaniae Lauretanae being performed (no ZWV or has been mentioned, but I guess it is no. 151 or 2), coupled with Haydn's Creation Mass (Schöpfungsmesse):
Collegium Schwäbisch Gmünd - more information (http://www.collegium-vocale.de/index.php/termine/84-silvestermeditation-4?date=2015-12-27-19-00) on the location.
Local news post: http://www.schwaebische-post.de/853760/

Finally, I spotted a passing mention of ZWV 1 Missa Sanctae Caecilliae being performed on St Cecilia's day (http://www.pfarrverband-feichten.de/kirchenmusiker-bei-caecilienfeier-der-dioezese-passau/) for a special celebration in the Department of Church Music in the diocese of Passau. It's already happened, but I thought it was intriguing.
