2 concerts 29/05/16: Basel, Chalumeau C. Leitherer; München, Dresden music R. Goebel
Two interesting concerts on the same day, in two different cities, at the end of May:
'Chalumeau in Concert'
17:00, Ackermannshof, Basel, Switzerland.
Swiss period ensemble, Musica Fiorita team up with single-reed extraordinaire, Christian Leitherer, and soprano, Jessica Jans, to present music for the Chalumeau. Zelenka headlines it, but the pieces haven't been mentioned. I guess that there might be other composers included (Graupner & Fasch perhaps?). Leitherer has done a number of Zelenka collaborations (Requiem & Officium Defunctorum with Collegium 1704, most prominently) using this great instrument. Daniela Dolci will be directing. Some bare details here.
Virtuoses Barock 'Per l’orchestra di Dresda'
19:00, Cuvilliés-Theater, München, Germany.
Conductor Reinhard Goebel joins L'Accamedia Giocosa and tenor soloist, Julian Prégardien for an exciting selection of pieces connected to Dresden in some way:
Jean Fery Rebel: Les Caractères de Danse
Johann D. Heinichen: Lamentatio Jeremiae Nr.1
Johann D. Heinichen: Konzertsatz D-Dur
Jan Dismas Zelenka: Sinfonia a-Moll [ZWV 189]
---
Antonio Vivaldi: Konzert F-Dur, RV 551
Jan Dismas Zelenka: Gaude, Laetare [ZWV 168]
Johann Caspar Seyffart: Concerto Grosso A-Dur
Goebel is a great conductor and has done quite a few Zelenka performances over the years.
