Thread: Missa Cicumcisionis

    Question Missa Cicumcisionis

Is there a published edition (or any other available edition) of Missa Cicumcisionis? Choral Scores? Instrument parts?

We'd like to do this mass with our community choir next January.

The original manuscript of the Mass is preserved in the Sächsische Landesbibliotek in Dresden. This is what is written in the booklet for the CD recording from 1983. So I guess the best would be to start there.
    Good luck.

Default Missa Sanctae Caeciliae ZWV 1

If possible, I would like to know which version (ie. which year) of this Mass is available as a publication

The edition Walhall includes a facsimile of the manuscript title page (Mus. 2358-D-7a bzw. 8), it is dated 1712. Herausgegeben von Martin Kellhuber.

    The introductory text add :
What served as a basis for the edition in hand was the synoptic rendering of various versions by Zelenka, provided by Anselm Gerhard (1981), deposit work in possession of Erbe deutscher Musik (Schulberg 2/Pfleghof, D-71070 Tübingen, Germany; including the relevant Critical Commentary, Master's Thesis, Berlin 1981"

Back in about 1982 when no Zelenka masses seemed easily to be available, I obtained a photocopy of the only Zelenka mass held then by the British Museum. I have the photocopy still and it is an abbreviated version of the Missa Circumcisionis, the original subject of this thread. Presumably it could still be obtained for research/comparison work.
