View Full Version : Unrecorded works

I don't know if you know it, but on the Discover Zelenka website under "Works" there is a search function that allows you to look for unrecorded works (either all of them, or according to category - e.g. masses).

My definition of unrecorded would be that there is no CD issue. (It doesn't necessarily mean that there is no radio recording, but that would be impossible to check). This could prove useful in future for performers who want to do world-première recordings of Zelenka works.

So an "unrecorded" work means that no recording on CD exists in the database, and the "unrecorded" listings should be fairly accurate.

My first question: is the list accurate?

My second question: would there be any value in being able to see works for which there is only one recording on CD?

Hi Alistair,

this search option is good to have and the list is almost right. There's one recording to add: One setting of Asperges me ZWV 163. This was recorded by the german Kammerkor Eben for a privately released memorial cd in 2006 which also included works by Dvorak and Bach, but was not for sale.

There's also another recording of Te Deum ZWV 145: Coro Polifonico & Orchestra Laus Deo, Director Gabriele Mara. No recording year is given. Released on MP3.com (?), this I received from the choir many years ago. http://www.lausdeo.org/

I'll send scans of the covers later.

Perhaps the cd list of our Japanese Zelenka friends on their Hipocondrie website has some more:
