Andrew, thanks! The volume I have has CPE Bach, Nichelmann, D Scarlatti, Froberger, and JS Bach. Maybe your volume got uploaded to the IMSLP with a different number.
My wife & me have a Schimmel upright piano which certainly has too big a sound for the room it's in. [One neighbour complains sometimes.] Well, in a decade or three, when we're finally rich, maybe we'll move to a place where there'll be no neighbours to bother with XVIIIth century music

May I ask about the volume XI of "Le Tresor des Pianiste"? I only found this: http://imslp.org/wiki/Le_tr%C3…istes_(Farrenc,_Aristide) , downloaded the XI volume but I don't see the Schaffrath piece. Is it there in the reprint?

I am finally in possession of the CD (I swapped it with Germund-Atle for the ZWV 6 -- thanks!); I've listened to it a few times. I don't mind the size of the ensemble at all (just as Mr Wagner wrote, 'da camera'...) and the soloists are of course superb. However, I have to notice how much better Zelenka got at this later, when writing arias for 'I Penitenti'... I'm not an expert, but it would seem to me that in the later arias the text flows without any problems, and contrasts are more pronounced.
The melodies are also more straightforward later, I think; however, of course, we might not see that as an advantage 
Great find. I have the modern edition of 'Der Vollkommene Capellmeister' packed somewhere in my old flat. It will take some time, but I will dig it up and see what that passage really says...
edit: I'm confused. Isn't it the passage Johannes mentioned?

I have now had the possibility to listen to the Zach Requiem. Indeed, I have to say that your idea seems quite plausible, rnkt! In the music itself I see no factor which could exclude him as the composer. And some fugue entries (particularly the stretto attempts) are certainly quirky enough
I see here: http://digital.slub-dresden.de…gs/405724535-00000240.pdf that the Dresden Library has another mass by Zach, 'Missa Domine Deus' or something like that, Mus.2479-D-501. I hope it is digitised some day...
edit: here http://imslp.org/wiki/Fugue_in_C_minor,_KomZ_A4_(Zach,_Jan) is an organ fugue on the same subject as the Requiem's Kyrie.

What kind of editor do you use? I've been using Lilypond for years and last year I switched from Emacs to Frescobaldi, but I'm wondering if there's something better out there. (I used Frescobaldi for ZWV 6.)
